Online Skid Steer Loader Training

Skid steer loaders (also known as bobcats) are a common piece of equipment found on job sites around the world. Due to their versatility and power, they are often relied on to perform a wide variety of jobs. This means that they see a great deal of use throughout the work day, making it important to have every operator instructed in the best operating and safety practices.

This online bobcat training course is designed to instruct the user in safe operating practices, common work site hazards, and skid steer regulations. The course also gives an overview of skid steer components and inspection procedures. By the end of the course, the user will be fully instructed in the theory required to safely operate a skid steer loader.

Course Duration: Approximately 1.75 hours (105 minutes).

The full list of topics covered in this online skid steer training course include:

• Safe operator characteristics.

• Skid steer loader laws and regulations (may vary by region).

• Components, attachments, safety devices, and their function.

• Work site hazards and how to avoid/solve them.

• Walk-around inspection procedure.

• Machine start-up procedure.

• Skid steer travelling and transportation.

• Loading/unloading buckets.

• Levelling materials.

• Tip-over prevention and emergency preparedness.

• Machine shut-down and parking.

• Basic maintenance and checks.

Skid Steer Loader Assessment & Completion

As part of this online bobcat training course, an assessment is given to test the participants knowledge of the subject matter presented. A mark of 80% or higher must be achieved to pass the course. If this goal is not met on the first attempt, two additional attempts will be allowed (3 attempts in total).

Upon the successful completion of this course, the user will be awarded with a certificate of completion that may be downloaded and printed. Please note that some jurisdictions require a further practical assessment to be completed before granting a full skid steer certification.

The content and theory presented in this course has been designed to comply with the requirements outlined in:

  • CSA B335
  • SAE J1388-2013
  • 29 CFR 1926.20 and 21
  • OSHA 1910.178
